Virus Transport Medium(Inactivate)

Virus transport medium (VTM) is a specially formulated medium for collection, transport and long term freeze storage of viruses. It is designed to maintain the optimum viability and virulence of the viral sample. The collection system uses nylon flocking swabs, which are non-toxic to micro organisms and can maximize the collectionand release of specimens.

It prevents the growth of negative and positive bacteria and fungi, and also inactivates viruses allowing the resulting non-infectious samples to be handled and shipped safely.

The vertical stripes on the plastic bottle cap increase the friction with the fingers and facilitate the opening.

Application

Instruction

1. Collect sample with a swab as required.

2. Place the swab with sample into the sampling tube.

3. Break the swab from the preset break-off point at the swab rod. Discard the tail of the rod.

4. Tighten the cover of sampling tube.

5. Add marks on the label of sampling tube asrequired.

6. Store the sample at 2-8℃ and transport it to a competent laboratory within 3 working days after collection. If it is not sent to the laboratory within 72 hours, it should be stored at -70℃ or below (or at -20℃ in refrigerator if lower temperature is unavailable). Repeated freezing and thawing of samples should be avoided.
