So how to properly sample nasopharyngeal swabs?
1. Pharyngeal swab sampling method: (recommended)
(1) Assist the patient to take a proper position and rinse mouth with water;
(2) Ask the patient to tilt the head slightly, open the mouth to make an “ah” sound, and quickly wipe the two palatal arches, pharynx and tonsils;
(3) Immerse the swab head in the sampling liquid, touch the swab head to the tube wall a few times to keep as many specimens as possible in the sampling liquid, discard the swab, pinch the tail part, and close the stopper.
2. Nasal swab sampling method:
(1) Fully soak the swab in the sampling liquid, lift it up to leave the liquid surface, and squeeze it repeatedly on the tube wall a few times;
(2) Let the patient’s head relax naturally, and slowly rotate the swab against the wall of the nostril to enter the first nostril of the patient to the nasal palate, and then slowly take it out while wiping and rotating. Use the same swab to wipe the other nostril with the same method;
(3) Put the nasal swab into the sampling tube where the throat swab has been collected, touch the head of the swab to the wall of the tube a few times to keep as many samples as possible in the sampling solution, discard the swab and pinch the tail part , Tighten the stopper.
Sampling requirements:
(1) Before sampling, the sampling number and patient’s name must be filled in on the sampling tube with an oily marker. Remember to only use oil-based markers to indicate the number and name, only write the number and name, and the handwriting is clear and not continuous! ! !
(2) Take out the sterile cotton swab from the sealed bag when sampling, and break the cotton swab from the bayonet after taking the sample, treat the upper half as medical waste, and put the lower half into the virus sampling tube and tighten it. Tube cover.
(3) After sampling, put the sampling tube in a double-layer medical garbage bag and seal it in order, waiting for receipt. It is best to store it at 4°C before receiving.
